As we continue to learn about goods and services students were able to get some hands on experience in producing, advertising, and selling goods by opening our very own class Skittles Factory.
First, we made advertisements to promote our skittles. We knew they had to be catchy and informative. Then students wrote an opinion piece about which job they would like to apply for in our Skittles Factory, giving 3 reasons why they thought they were qualified for the specific position. After interviews, we assigned jobs and then it was time to get to work. We had baggers, sorters, runners, and even a clean up crew working together to get the job done. With the help of our factory managers (myself and Ms. Ward) we had two bosses who kept things running smoothly and quickly solved problems as they arose. After the students had put in a "long day's work" they were able to reap the benefits of their labor by enjoying their very first pay day! After pricing our Skittles based on supply and demand, students were able to spend their hard earned money and purchase their very own bags of Skittles. It took some budgeting to get the colors they wanted, and even a few BOGO sales!
