As part of our Amazing Animals ELA Unit students have been working on their own animal research projects. With help from Mrs. Michener and Ms. Phillips in the Library, Mrs. McCoy in the Computer Lab, and our parents at home students created some really amazing projects!
Students began their research process in the library, checking out books and reading as much as they could about an animal of their choice. They learned information about their animal's appearance, habitat, and nutrition. Students also learned the importance of using a works cited page to give credit to the author for teaching them so much about their animal.
After students read books about their animals they moved to the computer lab to research their animal online. With Mrs. McCoy's help they were able to learn even more information about their animal, including some pretty interesting facts!
In class students took all the information they learned and created their own All About Animals book. Before we left for Thanksgiving break, students presented these books along with a poster/diorama/presentation that they worked on at home.
The results were pretty impressive and the whole class had an opportunity to learn new information about different animals.
