Book Characters that is. To kick off Read Across America week and Dr. Seuss's birthday, students completed a book character report in which they dressed up as and described their favorite book character using character traits. Do you recognize any of these famous characters?
...will he want some milk? Or another donut? Or maybe a napkin in case he makes a mess? Students put their predictions to the test by inviting their dads and other special men in their lives to school Friday morning for a yummy donut treat. Of course, students had worked hard to create a few extra surprises to tell these men just how loved they are! A special thanks to Mrs. Leslie Heath, one of my maternity leave subs, who entertained students and dads alike with a read aloud of If You Give a Dog a Donut, because after all, the only thing better than sharing a donut with your dad is sharing a good book!
We survived 100 Days of First Grade! And what better way to celebrate than a t-shirt fashion show! Students spent the week scouring their houses for 100 items to add to a t-shirt, and on Friday they got to strut their stuff on the red carpet (which was the most fun, hence the blurry runway pictures)!
