As our nation prepared for the election of a new leader, so did our classroom! We learned about the roles and responsibilities of a president, as well as the responsibilities of American citizens to make informed voting choices. Students wrote and shared stories about what they would do as class president. After careful deliberation in our local elections (table groups) we chose our two candidates to represent Room 307. These candidates prepared campaign speeches and posters. On Friday, after registering to vote, students cast their ballots.
Our two candidates, Ella and Kathleen did an amazing job and had some great ideas for improving our classroom. After a very close race, Kathleen was named our class president. As her first plan of business, she appointed a vice president to help delegate some tasks. Ella was the perfect nominee for this job.
Our girls have been hard at work listening to the people of Room 307 and putting new practices in place!
